The Gospel

If you haven’t heard the gospel, our primary message, please keep reading. All people were born into sin. Sin simply boils down to our human selfishness. Everything we do from our very first cry for food or attention is selfish… sinful. We see sinfulness everywhere in the world. People have a tendency to make everything about filling their personal preferences or gaining something like power, money, influence, indulgence, popularity, subscriptions, and likes. We want what we want. So, we want to be entertained. We self-identify. We lust, steal, covet, and lie. We grow envious of others, and we think we deserve the whole world. When we think and act selfishly, the result is always the oppression of others. This is ultimately what sin boils down to. God, who is just, must condemn sin. The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). All of us, because of our selfishness in sin, are condemned to death.

That’s the bad news. There is good news. Jesus Christ came in fulfillment of all the Old Testament prophets to remove the iniquity of His people. He did not sin. Yet, He died. When He died, there was a great exchange. Our sin was imputed to Jesus, and His righteousness was imputed to His people. He rose from the grave to prove His authority over death. He has the authority to give life. All who confess that Jesus is Lord and believe He was raised from the dead will be saved from their own sin (Romans 10:9).

In this, we learned that it is never okay to build our own kingdoms on Christ’s back as individuals…

John 14:8-11 8 Philip *said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9 Jesus *said to him, “Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘Show us…
